To much fun with Great Grandma

Meeting Great Grandma for the first time

Manicures, Pedicures & Paraffin Wax

Dave, Kylie and I went up to Burley to celebrate my grandma's 85th birthday in April. Kylie and her Great Grandmother met for the first time. It was so much fun to see the interaction between them. We spent the weekend watching the Jazz game, manicuring, eating too much, and trying to fix a few odds and ends around her house. On her birthday we took her to Upper Crust Bakery for lunch which is in connection with Gossner Cheese. We slipped a hint to our waitress and she came out with Pecan Pie and a cheese hat for Grandma to wear as we sang Happy Birthday. Grandma attempted to feed Kylie her first taste of ice cream. After a few resisted attempts I ended up swatting her spoon full of ice cream that barely missed the person at the next table. Afterwords we visited grandpa's grave and then headed back home having made some great memories with grandma.

10 things you must know about Effie Mills:
1. Huge Jazz fan (left Christmas Carolers on her door step to see how the Jazz were doing.)
2. Played college ball at BYU
3. Served 3 missions (Oakland, Southern California, St. George)
4. Hole in 1 at Burley golf course
5. Makes you stay up late playing cards until she wins.
6. Serves you a HUGE breakfast with 4-5 different types of drinks to choose from.
7. Ran down the sideline of my Dad's little league football game as he was running for a touchdown.
8. Approached my new brother-in-law as being Dave's brother with those "kissable lips."
9. Starts water fights at family reunions
10. Spiritual Giant!

Smiley Kylie

Kylie enjoys peek-a-boo, eating rice cereal, chewing on her favorite spoon, and long walks in the park. She also enjoys pulling hair, sucking on your face, giggling, watching other children play, and spending time in the church foyer. What a girl!

Taken on Kylie's 1/2 birthday.

Girls Night Out

2008 & 2006

Every April General Conference my mom takes all the sister-in-laws and I out to eat and then spoils us rotten by buying us each a pair of shoes. We giggle the entire time and always eat more than we should. This year we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner and tried on every pair of shoes at Dillard's and then went out for ice cream at Cold Stone for dessert. (Yes, Mark is still single and you too can be apart of this girls night out). This year was my favorite girls night out of all time. I think shopping and a good dessert always brings people closer. I liked this girls night particularly well because I was able to share how much I love my mother and to tell her how grateful I am for her and all the love and sacrifice she has shown to me. It was so nice to reminisce about old memories and talk about how we want to be as mothers in the future. I feel so blessed to have my mother and sister-in-laws as friends.

Eat Meat Sparingly

Dave came home from work one day and announced he had purchased a half of cow. On October 3 we picked up and bought a deep freeze from our neighbor the night before Kylie was born. Ever since this monumental moment Dave has been dreaming of filling it up with his favorite foods. Now that we have so much beef we have dedicated each day to a particular meat. We have Taco Tuesdays, Round Roast Wednesdays, T-Bone Thrusdays, and Sirloin Sundays. Dave hasn't stopped smiling since.
